In Morocco, 80% of the unemployed are young people. The unemployment rate increases with the level of education, going from 1.6% for people without any diploma to more than 22% for university graduates. Many graduates lack the skills to communicate effectively with employers, while employers complain about the shortage of competent profiles.
Faced with these challenges, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID Morocco) designed, in close partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, the program USAID Career Center to facilitate the transition of young people from training to employment.
USAID Career Center pursues the following objectives:
• establish career centers in 3 universities and 3 vocational training institutes (Casablanca-Settat, Marrakech-Safi, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima regions),
• provide employment preparation courses, involving the private sector through a networking approach with training establishments,
• develop a transferable and sustainable Career Center model.
