Like dozens of entrepreneurs who have faced the pandemic, Sondos, the head of a hospital waste treatment unit, with an exponentially growing activity in its region, has benefited from the support of Souk at-Tanmia, which is an entrepreneurship support program initiated by the African Development Bank (AfDB) with the support of the British, American, and Danish governments, among others.
Since this program is not a mechanism exclusive to times of crises, it was able to protect many jobs from the effects of Covid-19. Since 2012, it has contributed to the creation of 250 new businesses and 2,000 jobs. “Moving forward” is the motto of hundreds of entrepreneurs supported by the program. Sectors such as industry, agriculture, tourism, and crafts are involved. Also, most businesses are managed by young people and women from priority regions in the country.
