Since its establishment in 2013, this NGO aims to extend its outreach in Egypt’s governorates to achieve Governorate Economic and Social Revival (GESR). It is a program of Misr El-Kheir Foundation that aims to support technology entrepreneurship and contribute to a knowledge-based economy, through supporting innovators and technology startups solving social challenges in the fields of Water, Energy, Food, Health, and Education.
Financing, marketing, networking and coworking are part of the services offered, as well as legal assistance and training.
GESR incubator offers an incubation program from 6-9 months with seed funding, mentorship and training, technical, and accounting support that helps innovators and social entrepreneurs to develop their functional prototypes into registered social enterprises with solid business plans.
The Innovation Lab supports innovators and entrepreneurs to develop their ideas into prototypes. It offers access to mechanical and embedded system workshops, provides technical training, and conducts activities such as pre-incubation program, and social innovation challenges that aim to encourage innovative affordable solutions to social problems.
The partners include Vodafone, Pepsico, IBM, The World Bank, UNDP, Afrilab and Ashoka among others.
