The benefits of parity: unlocking the potential of women's entrepreneurship in Africa
World Bank
Enterprise development is a key driver of economic growth and job creation. Without entrepreneurship, there would be little innovation, little productivity growth and fewer new jobs. More than three quarters of the African population believe that entrepreneurs are admired within their society. Entrepreneurship is also considered by 76% of Africans to be a good career choice. This is the highest rate in the world.
The promotion of gender equality is a sound economic choice and good management practice for companies, so it must be at the heart of development policies. If women have the same opportunities as men in regards of taking their destiny into their own hands, contributing to the economy of their homes, communities and countries, it would enhance productivity, the results of development and performance of enterprises and institutions.
