The objective of this study is to better characterize the phenomenon of entrepreneurship among the youth in Morocco, a country where this category of the population is highly exposed to unemployment. It uses data from a survey carried out in 2018 among 455 young people aged 15 to 24. This data made it possible to analyze the profile of young people according to the decision and intention to undertake their motivations, their fears, their perception of the resources necessary to be mobilized as well as their degree of knowledge and use of programs to promote entrepreneurship. Additional information was collected using semi-structured interviews with four managers in organizations supporting entrepreneurship.
The results obtained show that a very small portion of young people are moving towards entrepreneurship. These results also managed to help identify the main obstacles to private initiative. The Moroccan government should tackle these obstacles to make entrepreneurship a means of professional integration for the youth.
