This report examines the economies of North Africa through the lens of the upheavals caused by the pandemic, in two complementary parts. The purpose of the first part is to paint a picture of the North African countries in light of the crisis caused by COVID-19, only on the short term on the economies (growth, employment, etc.), but also on the medium and long term, particularly on the development trajectories of the countries of the sub-region.
In the second part, a synthetic score is put forward, one that measures the vulnerability of the sub-region to the pandemic at the health and socio-economic levels. This is the first vulnerability score, or ratio put forward for North African countries.
